A B O U T   L I L I

Lili Gu (she/her) is a West Coast-based filmmaker and media producer. She is passionate about exploring the human condition and telling stories that give voice to historically marginalized communities. She loves connecting with people and applying her skills to challenging new projects — from intimate humanistic documentaries to experimental shorts to uniquely soulful music videos.

Lili received her B.S. and M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science, and her M.F.A. in Film Production and Directing from the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television, where she trained under the mentorship of pioneering vérité documentarian Marina Goldovskaya. She has been the recipient of the Mary Pickford Award, the Adobe Production Premium Award, the Hollywood Post Alliance Scholarship, the Edie and Lew Wasserman Film Production Fellowship, and the Edna and Yu-Shan Han Endowed Award, among others. Her films have received numerous festival accolades, screening internationally and on television networks such as PBS.
